If you’re looking for a gentle, effective, and chemical-free toner to hydrate and brighten your skin, this homemade rose water and licorice root toner is just what your skincare routine needs. Known for their powerful soothing and skin-repairing properties, rose petals and licorice root have long been used in traditional beauty rituals. This DIY toner not only balances the skin’s pH but also helps fade pigmentation, even out skin tone, and provide a natural glow.
Place a deep, heavy-bottomed pan on the stove.
In the center of the pan, put a small heat-safe bowl upside down (if using metal) or upright if collecting directly into it.
Around the bowl (not inside), add one glass of water.
Sprinkle in the fresh rose petals and add the licorice root pieces into the water.
Carefully place the lid on the pan upside down. This will allow the condensation to drip directly into the bowl.
Heat the water on low flame for 20–30 minutes, allowing the steam to condense and collect in the center bowl. This steam will be your rose water toner infused with licorice essence.
Once done, carefully remove the bowl with the collected liquid.
Let it cool completely, then transfer it to a sterilized spray bottle or glass jar.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 7–10 days.
After cleansing your face, spray or apply this toner using a cotton pad.
Gently pat it into your skin and follow with your favorite moisturizer or serum.
Use twice daily for best results — especially in the morning and at night.
