Rice Clove Rosewater Toner: Shrink Large Pores & Reveal Glass Skin

Rice water has become a modern K-beauty staple for the coveted “glass-skin” finish because its starches and antioxidants gently absorb excess sebum, refine pore edges, and boost luminosity. Clove buds, rich in eugenol, provide strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory power that keeps pores clear and calms blemish-prone areas. Pure rosewater restores the skin’s natural, slightly acidic pH while drenching cells in lightweight hydration. When you layer in aloe vera, green-tea, glycerin, and cucumber, the classic trio transforms into a multi-tasking elixir suitable for all skin types—even sensitive. The result is a budget-friendly toner that visibly tightens enlarged pores, balances oil, and leaves skin reflecting light like glass.

Ingredients Required (makes ≈ 150 ml)

  • 2 tbsp uncooked white or brown rice – pore-tightening starches and brightening antioxidants

  • 6 whole cloves – antibacterial, anti-inflammatory eugenol keeps pores clear

  • 50 ml pure rosewater – re-balances pH and provides soothing hydration

  • 1 tbsp fresh aloe-vera gel – calms redness and supplies lasting moisture

  • 25 ml cooled strong green-tea – polyphenols tighten skin and fight free radicals

  • ½ tsp vegetable glycerin – humectant that draws water into the skin for plumpness

  • 1 tbsp cucumber juice – silica-rich refresher that visibly smooths texture

Procedure

  1. Rice–Clove Infusion

    • Rinse rice twice to remove debris, then soak in 120 ml filtered water for two hours, swirling occasionally.

    • Add cloves for the final 30 minutes so their actives steep gently without heat.

  2. Strain & Optional Fermentation

    • Strain the liquid into a clean glass jar. For a stronger antioxidant boost, loosely cover and leave at room temperature for 12–24 hours to ferment lightly. If the scent turns sour, discard and restart.

  3. Blend the Toner

    • Stir in rosewater, chilled green-tea, aloe gel, glycerin, and cucumber juice until uniform.

    • Transfer the mixture to a dark spritz bottle to protect it from light.

  4. Chill

    • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before first use. The cooling effect further constricts pores.

Instructions for Use

  1. Patch Test on the jawline 24 hours before regular application—clove is potent and may tingle.

  2. Daily Toner: After cleansing, mist or sweep the chilled toner over face and neck with a cotton pad, avoiding direct eye contact.

  3. Layering: While skin is still damp, apply your serum or lightweight moisturizer to seal in hydration.

  4. Frequency: Use morning and night; oily skin can benefit from an extra mid-day spritz.

  5. Storage: Keep refrigerated and use within 7–10 days. Discard at the first sign of cloudiness or off-odor.

Benefits

  • Visibly shrinks enlarged pores by tightening pore walls and reducing sebum build-up

  • Controls breakouts & fades post-acne marks through clove’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action

  • Balances pH & boosts hydration with rosewater and glycerin, preventing oil rebounds

  • Delivers glass-skin luminosity via rice-derived antioxidants and green-tea catechins that brighten and protect

  • Soothes irritation & redness thanks to aloe and cucumber’s calming polysaccharides and cooling enzymes

  • Lightweight anti-aging shield—polyphenols help neutralize free radicals to slow fine-line formation

  • Affordable, eco-friendly skincare that repurposes pantry staples and cuts plastic waste compared to store-bought toners

Glow Tip: Freeze leftover toner in an ice-cube tray. Glide a cube over clean skin on humid days for an instant pore-blurring facial massage and extra firmness—no extra cost, all natural.
