Licorice Skin Brightening serum

Licorice, also known as mulethi in India, has been valued for centuries in Ayurveda and natural skincare for its powerful skin-brightening and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains glabridin, a natural compound that helps reduce dark spots, pigmentation, and uneven skin tone. When combined with other natural ingredients, licorice can be turned into an effective homemade serum that brightens the skin, fades blemishes, and gives a healthy glow—without any harsh chemicals.

This DIY Licorice Skin Brightening Serum is easy to make, affordable, and safe for all skin types.

Ingredients Required

You will need the following commonly available ingredients:

  • Licorice root powder (mulethi) – 2 teaspoons (brightens skin, reduces pigmentation)
  • Aloe vera gel – 3 tablespoons (hydrating base, soothes skin, helps serum consistency)
  • Rose water – 2 tablespoons (refreshes and tones skin)
  • Vitamin E capsule – 1 capsule (anti-aging, nourishes skin)
  • Lemon juice – ½ teaspoon (natural source of Vitamin C for extra glow; optional for sensitive skin)

Procedure

  1. In a small bowl, add 2 teaspoons of licorice root powder.
  2. Mix in 2 tablespoons of rose water and stir until the powder dissolves well.
  3. Add 3 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel to the mixture. Blend until smooth and serum-like.
  4. Puncture one Vitamin E capsule and squeeze the oil into the mixture. Stir thoroughly.
  5. Optionally, add ½ teaspoon of lemon juice if your skin is not too sensitive, for additional brightening.
  6. Transfer the serum into a clean, airtight glass dropper bottle or container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 10–12 days.

Instructions for Use

  • Cleanse your face thoroughly before application.
  • Take 3–4 drops of the serum and apply evenly over your face and neck.
  • Gently massage in circular motions until absorbed.
  • Use at night before bed for best results.
  • Apply daily for 2–3 weeks to see noticeable brightening and reduction in pigmentation.

Benefits of Licorice Brightening Serum

  • Reduces pigmentation & dark spots – Glabridin in licorice naturally lightens uneven skin tone.
  • Brightens complexion – Gives a radiant glow and improves dull skin.
  • Soothes inflammation – Aloe vera and licorice calm redness, irritation, and acne scars.
  • Hydrates & nourishes – Aloe vera and Vitamin E provide deep moisturization.
  • Natural & chemical-free – Safe alternative to harsh brightening creams or chemical serums.
