Large facial pores often expand because of excess sebum, weakened collagen and chronic surface inflammation. Alcohol-heavy toners can strip the barrier and actually widen pores. In contrast, plant-based acids, amino-acids and antioxidants help contract pore openings while supporting a healthy pH around 5.5. Fermented rice water supplies natural starch-based astringents and a spectrum of B- and C-vitamins that mirror witch-hazel’s tightening action without its occasional sting. Green-tea catechins, cucumber minerals, aloe-vera polysaccharides, rose water, apple-cider vinegar (ACV) and lemon’s citric acid add anti-inflammatory, sebum-balancing and mild exfoliating benefits. Used daily, this toner leaves skin smoother, matte yet hydrated, and better protected against urban pollution.
Ingredients Required
(Each bullet follows your preferred “Ingredient – quantity” styling.)
- Green-tea infusion (strong, cooled) – 100 ml
- Fermented rice water (24 h soak, unsalted) – 30 ml
- Cucumber juice (fresh-pressed, strained) – 20 ml
- Aloe-vera gel (pure, de-coloured) – 10 ml
- Apple-cider vinegar (raw, unfiltered) – 10 ml
- Rose water (food-grade) – 20 ml
- Lemon juice (fresh, strained) – 5 ml
Procedure
- Brew green tea – Steep 1 teaspoon loose-leaf (or 2 bags) in 120 ml just-off-boil water for 5 minutes; strain and cool completely.
- Prepare rice water – Rinse 2 tablespoons raw rice, cover with 250 ml filtered water, soak 24 hours at room temperature, strain and chill.
- Juice cucumber & blend aloe – Blitz half a peeled cucumber; press through muslin to yield 20 ml clear juice, then whisk in aloe gel until smooth.
- Sterilise bottle – Rinse a dark-glass 200 ml spray bottle with boiling water or 70 % ethanol; air-dry.
- Combine actives – In a beaker mix cooled green tea, fermented rice water, rose water and ACV; whisk. Fold in cucumber-aloe blend, stirring gently. Add lemon juice last to minimise oxidation.
- Preserve & chill – Optionally add 3–4 drops vitamin-E oil, cap tightly, label and refrigerate. Use within 7 days or freeze excess in an ice-cube tray.
Usage Instructions
- Patch-test on the inner arm for 24 hours if you have sensitive skin.
- After cleansing (AM and/or PM), shake the bottle, mist 3–4 pumps onto a cotton pad and sweep over the face, focusing on the T-zone.
- Let it absorb for 60 seconds; do not rinse.
- Follow with serum and a light moisturiser; always apply sunscreen in daylight.
- Frequency – Oily or resilient skin: daily. Sensitive skin: 2–3 times per week. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
