Homemade Hair Growth Oil: Adivasi Hair Oil For Stronger Thicker Hair

n a world overflowing with chemical-laden hair products, there’s something grounding and powerful about returning to nature. Traditional herbal remedies, particularly those rooted in Adivasi wisdom, offer time-tested benefits that modern formulations often overlook.

Today, we’re sharing a revitalized version of a homemade Adivasi-inspired herbal hair oil — a nourishing blend of nature’s finest ingredients designed to strengthen your hair from root to tip.

Why Choose Homemade Herbal Hair Oil?

Commercial hair oils often promise miracles but deliver damage in the form of silicones, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. By crafting your own oil at home, you:

  • Control every ingredient that goes in
  • Preserve the freshness and potency of natural herbs
  • Customize the recipe based on your unique hair needs
  • Avoid harsh additives that can irritate the scalp

DIY Herbal Hair Oil Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cold-pressed coconut oil
  • A handful of fresh curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds (or kalonji)
  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • 1 medium aloe vera leaf (gel scooped out)
  • 4–5 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 2–3 hibiscus flowers (or 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus petals)
  • Optional: A few drops of essential oil (such as tea tree or lavender)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep Your Ingredients

  • Wash all plant-based ingredients thoroughly to remove dirt or residue
  • Pat dry the curry leaves and hibiscus flowers
  • Dice the onion finely
  • Scoop out aloe vera gel and mash it for easier infusion

2. Slow Infusion Process

  • In a heavy-bottomed pan, warm the coconut oil on low heat
  • Add the curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, sesame/kalonji seeds, garlic, rosemary, onion, aloe vera, and hibiscus
  • Let the oil simmer on low for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the ingredients turn crisp and aromatic
  • Avoid high heat to preserve nutrients

3. Cool and Strain

  • Turn off the heat and let the oil cool completely
  • Strain using a muslin cloth or fine mesh to separate solids
  • Discard the used herbs or compost them if possible

4. Store with Care

  • Pour the strained oil into a clean, dry glass bottle
  • Keep it in a cool, dark place to maintain its shelf life (up to 3 months)

How to Use:

  • Warm a small amount of oil in your palms
  • Massage gently into the scalp using circular motions
  • Apply through the lengths of your hair
  • Leave it on for at least 1 hour, or overnight for deep conditioning
  • Wash with a mild, sulfate-free shampoo

Pro Tip: Use 2–3 times a week for best results
