Effective Home Remedies For Dandruff

Dandruff is the most common scalp problem today. The pollution, impurities, as well as products residue, can all cause scalp damage leading to dandruff. While there are endless products in the market which can help in removing these impurities off, I lay my trust in nature.

In today’s article, we will be sharing some quick homemade natural remedies which will help in removing dandruff whilst improving the overall condition of your scalp.

Remedy #1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contains anti-bacterial properties which help in killing the bacteria that cause scalp damage like dandruff.

  1. To use, mix 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil and 3-5 drops of rosemary essential oil in a bowl.
  2. Dip a cotton ball in this solution and apply it on the scalp as well as hair.
  3. Massage in a circular motion and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  4. Rinse it off using shampoo and lukewarm water.

Remedy #2. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil contains anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties which help in cleansing the scalp and removing dandruff off it.

It also stimulates blood flow which repairs the scalp damage and causes hair to grow healthy.

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil.
  2. Mix and apply it on your scalp.
  3. Massage and rinse off using lukewarm water after 1/2 to 1 hour.

Remedy #3. Baking soda

Baking soda contains antibacterial properties which kill the bacteria that cause scalp damage like dandruff.

It is also a natural exfoliator which helps in scrubbing the impurities of the scalp.

  1. To use baking soda for dandruff, mix 2 Tsp of Baking Soda, 2 tbsp of Olive Oil and water as required.
  2. Apply this on your scalp and let it sit for 20 minutes.
  3. Rinse off using lukewarm water and towel dry.

Remedy #4. Garlic

Garlic contains antifungal properties which remove the infection whilst clearing dandruff off.

  1. To use garlic on your scalp, crush 3-4 cloves in a mortar and pestle.
  2. Heat some olive oil on a saucepan and boil it with crushed cloves.
  3. Once done, strain it and apply it on your scalp.
  4. Massage and rinse off after 30-45 minutes.

Remedy #5. Aspirin

Aspirin contains salicylic acid which exfoliates the scalp and removes dandruff off.

It also helps in reducing inflammation while preventing hair loss.
