DIY Rice & Almond Night Gel for Soft, Bright & Glowing Skin

Nighttime is when your skin gets a break from sunlight, pollution, makeup, and other environmental stressors. A simple nourishing night gel can help keep the skin hydrated and leave it looking softer, smoother, and refreshed by morning.

If your skin often looks tired, dry, or dull, rice and almonds make a wonderful combination for a homemade night gel. Rice water is traditionally used in beauty routines for its skin-conditioning properties, while almonds contain natural oils and vitamin E that help nourish dry and rough-looking skin.

For this DIY, we will combine rice and almonds with aloe vera, rose water, glycerin, and vitamin E to make a lightweight gel that can be used before bedtime.

Ingredients Required

  • 2 tablespoons raw rice
  • 5–6 almonds
  • 2 tablespoons pure aloe vera gel
  • 1 tablespoon rose water
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
  • 1 Vitamin E capsule
  • ½ teaspoon sweet almond oil
  • 3–4 tablespoons clean water

How to Make Rice & Almond Night Gel

Step 1: Prepare the Rice

Wash 2 tablespoons of rice thoroughly to remove any dust or impurities.

Place the washed rice in a small bowl and add about 3–4 tablespoons of clean water. Allow it to soak for at least 2–3 hours.

For an even softer preparation, you can leave the rice soaking overnight in the refrigerator.

After soaking, blend the rice together with a little of the soaking water until you get a smooth mixture.

Strain it through a fine cloth or sieve. You only need the smooth, milky rice liquid for this night gel.

Step 2: Prepare the Almonds

Soak 5–6 almonds overnight.

The next morning, remove their skins and blend the almonds with approximately 1 tablespoon of water until creamy.

Strain the mixture carefully so that no coarse almond particles remain. This step is important because rough almond pieces should not be rubbed onto facial skin.

Take around 1 teaspoon of the strained almond liquid for the recipe.

Step 3: Make the Night Gel

In a clean glass bowl, add:

  • 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
  • 1 tablespoon strained rice liquid
  • 1 teaspoon strained almond liquid
  • 1 tablespoon rose water
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin

Mix everything thoroughly until the consistency becomes smooth and gel-like.

Now puncture one Vitamin E capsule and squeeze the oil into the mixture.

Finally, add about ½ teaspoon sweet almond oil.

Whisk or stir everything for another minute until you get a smooth, silky night gel.

Transfer the prepared gel into a clean, airtight glass jar.

How to Use It

At night, wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat the skin dry.

Take a small amount of the rice and almond night gel and apply a thin layer over your face and neck.

Massage very gently using upward circular motions for around 1–2 minutes.

Leave the gel on overnight and rinse your face with normal or lukewarm water the following morning.

You can use it 3–4 nights per week, depending on how your skin responds.

If you have very oily or acne-prone skin, use less almond oil and glycerin or skip the additional almond oil altogether.

Benefits of Rice & Almond Night Gel

  • Helps hydrate the skin: Aloe vera, glycerin, and rose water help attract and retain moisture, making the skin feel softer.
  • Improves the appearance of dull skin: Rice-based preparations can leave the skin looking fresher and more even-toned with regular use.
  • Nourishes dry skin: Almonds and almond oil contain fatty acids that help soften rough and dry-looking areas.
  • Supports smoother-looking skin: Consistent moisturization can improve the appearance of dryness-related fine lines and uneven texture.
  • Soothes tired-looking skin: Aloe vera and rose water provide a refreshing, cooling feel that works particularly well in an evening skincare routine.
  • Leaves skin naturally glowing: The combination of hydration and emollient ingredients can give the skin a soft, healthy-looking glow by morning.
  • Provides antioxidant-rich nourishment: Almond oil and Vitamin E supply antioxidant compounds that complement a moisturizing skincare routine.
  • Helps maintain the skin barrier: The moisturizing ingredients reduce dryness and help keep the skin feeling comfortable and supple.
