Clove Baby Oil Recipe: Collagen Oil To Reduce Wrinkles & Age Spots

This luxe, budget-friendly face oil blends humble baby oil (a highly refined, inert mineral oil) with a whisper of clove and supportive botanicals to create a silky, fast-absorbing “collagen-style” oil. While no topical oil literally adds collagen to skin, the right combination can lock in moisture, soften the look of fine lines, and visibly even out tone over time—especially when used consistently at night. Mineral oil helps reduce water loss, clove brings antioxidant punch, and a few smart carrier oils and tocopherols give the blend a comfortable, cushiony finish that suits most skin types. Patch-test first if you’re sensitive or acne-prone.

Ingredients Required

(Choose commonly available options; at least 5 are listed below)

  • Baby oil (mineral oil), 40 mL – Lightweight occlusive base that seals in hydration and smooths texture.

  • Jojoba oil, 8 mL – Skin-mimicking liquid wax ester to improve glide and reduce greasiness.

  • Rosehip seed oil, 1.5 mL – Naturally rich in antioxidants; great for the appearance of photo-aging and uneven tone.

  • Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols), 0.5 mL (≈10 drops) – Antioxidant booster that supports the feel of a resilient skin barrier.

  • Clove bud essential oil, 0.25 mL (≈5 drops for a 50 mL batch) – Potent antioxidant active; keep dilution low.

  • Optional: Rose hydrosol/rose water (use separately as a toner before oil) for a soothing, aromatic prep step.

Dilution math (important!)
For a 50 mL bottle, aim for ≤0.5% clove essential oil. That’s roughly 0.25 mL (≈5 drops) assuming ~0.05 mL per drop. More is not better.

Procedure

  1. Prep & sanitize: Wash and dry a 50–60 mL amber glass bottle and dropper.

  2. Measure the base: Add 40 mL baby oil to the bottle.

  3. Balance the texture: Add 8 mL jojoba and 1.5 mL rosehip.

  4. Antioxidant boost: Add 0.5 mL vitamin E and swirl gently.

  5. Active—go slow: Add ~5 drops clove bud essential oil to stay at or below 0.5% total concentration.

  6. Finish & store: Cap tightly, roll the bottle between your palms to combine, label with the date, and store in a cool, dark place.

Sensitive-skin option: Skip the essential oil and make a clove-infused oil instead—soak a few whole cloves in jojoba for 7–10 days, strain, then blend as above. Infusions are gentler than essential oils.

Instructions (How to Use)

  • Patch test first: Apply a tiny amount on the inner forearm and wait 24 hours. Discontinue if redness or itching appears.

  • Night routine: Cleanse, mist or pat on rose water, then press 2–4 drops of the oil into slightly damp face and neck.

  • Daytime caution: Follow your usual morning routine with sunscreen. Oils help support the look of skin but do not replace SPF.

  • Frequency: Start 3–4 nights per week, adjusting to comfort.

  • Avoid: Eye area, mucous membranes, and broken or irritated skin.

  • Special situations: If pregnant, nursing, on blood thinners, or very sensitive, consult a professional before using clove essential oil.

Benefits of This DIY

  • Plumper-looking, well-hydrated skin
Baby oil forms a breathable occlusive layer that slows water loss. With consistent use, dehydration lines look softer and makeup sits more smoothly.

  • Antioxidant support for photo-aged skin
Clove bud oil is naturally rich in eugenol, an antioxidant compound that helps defend against the look of dullness and uneven tone. Keeping it at a low dilution provides benefits while minimizing the chance of irritation.

  • Barrier comfort and resilience
Vitamin E adds an extra shield against environmental stressors and supports the feel of a supple, conditioned skin barrier.

  • Balanced slip without heaviness
Jojoba mimics skin’s natural lipids, improving spreadability; rosehip contributes a lightweight, fast-absorbing finish with a glow that doesn’t feel greasy.

  • Simple, sensible layering
Using rose hydrosol before the oil adds a calming, refreshing step and ensures the oil locks in water already present on the skin.

Smart Safety Notes

  • Think of this as a “collagen-style” oil—its job is to reduce moisture loss and support skin with antioxidants so it looks smoother and bouncier; it doesn’t add collagen itself.

  • Clove is powerful. Stay at ≤0.5% in leave-on face products, and stop use if you notice stinging, redness, or increased sensitivity.

  • Consistency wins: pair nightly use with daily SPF, and give it 6–8 weeks to judge results such as a softer look to fine lines and a more even, radiant tone.

Enjoy your silky, glow-giving blend—simple ingredients, elevated results!
