Best Home Remedies To Treat Under Eye Dark Circles

As we age, we lose volume in the tear trough (under-eye) region. This causes dark circles, wrinkles, thinning skin and under-eye hollows to appear, making us look tired. This ageing change can start as early as our late twenties and can cause a lot of distress when we look in the mirror.

Today in this post, I will share few effective home remedies that will help you to fill hollowness in your under eye area, and reduces appearance of dark circles

Potatoes

Potatoes contain starch, enzymes, and vitamin C. These substances nourish the thin skin below your eyes.

The best way to use potatoes as a remedy for tear troughs is to apply them on your skin raw. The coolness of the raw potatoes decreases the inflammation of blood vessels. This minimises swelling and the dark appearance of the skin under your eyes.

Potatoes can be applied under your eyes for about 20 minutes. You must do this while lying down.

Almond Oil

Prominent tear troughs mean that the skin below your eyes has lost a significant amount of nutrients.

The skin under your eyes can be nourished using almond oil.

Almond oil contains a rich amount of vitamin E, a crucial vitamin for your skin. As an alternative, you can use vitamin E oil. Both almond oil and vitamin E oil are available for purchase in leading stores.

Tea Bags

Tea contains significant amounts of flavonoids and antioxidants. These substances help improve the appearance of tear troughs. They do this by relaxing eye nerves & muscles and promoting circulation.

To use tea bags as a tear trough remedy, you must steep two tea bags for at least five minutes first. Then, squeeze the liquid out of them. Let the liquid cool down. Then, place the cool tea bags under your eyes for at least 10 minutes.

Cucumber

You likely saw them on TV shows and movies. Raw cucumber slices are a common home remedy for prominent tear troughs.

To use this remedy, slice some cucumbers. Make sure they are thick enough. Then, place the slices under your eyes for 15 to 20 minutes.

Lemon Juice

Also known as nature’s bleach, lemon juice promotes dead skin removal and discoloration. Lemon juice can be used in most parts of the body, including the under eye.

However, since lemon juice is acidic, you have to dilute it with water first. This prevents skin irritation. Additionally, don’t forget to keep the lemon juice from entering your eyes when applying it.

Fish Oil

Fish oil contains a rich amount of fatty acids. The said acids have an anti-inflammatory effect. This gives fish oil the ability to promote healing of damaged cells.

To use fish oil, take an adequate amount of it first. Then, apply it under your eyes using your fingers.
