Desi formula to get rid of premature white hair
Grey hair is a common problem experienced by women as well as men. In some cases, grey hair may arrive well before the process of ageing begins. There are several causes of grey hair. Here are a few simple desi remedies you can try in order to get rid of grey hair at home.
Coconut Oil and Curry Leaves
Curry leaves are a rich source of iron and can help to get rid of grey hair as well as eliminate dandruff.
You will need:
- 1 cup of coconut oil
- 15-20 curry leaves
How to:
- Add the curry leaves to the coconut oil and allow the oil to come to a boil.
- Once the oil starts boiling, turn off the heat.
- Let the coconut oil cool down completely.
- Strain the oil and apply on the scalp.
- Let the oil for at least 1 hour.
- Shampoo and condition hair as usual.
- Repeat this remedy once a week.
Amla Powder
Gooseberries or amla are very beneficial for overall health and especially for hair. They are a very rich source of vitamin C and are also packed with antioxidants. These antioxidants promote hair health and boost the growth of new hair. Use of amla powder as a hair mask will also help to treat grey hair.
You will need:
- 4 tablespoons of amla powder
- 1/4th cup of lemon juice
- 1/4th cup of olive oil
How to:
- Add the amla powder to the lemon juice and mix until the powder is well combined and there are no more lumps.
- Now add the olive oil to this mixture.
- Once the hair mask is ready, apply it on your scalp.
- Tie up your hair in a bun and leave the hair mask for 40 minutes.
- Shampoo and condition your hair as usual.
- Repeat this remedy once a week.
Coconut Oil
Grey hairs are very brittle. They tend to be more prone to breakage than the rest of the black hair. It is important to oil your hair regularly to stimulate the scalp and follicles in order to let a new hair grow. Coconut oil helps to do this. It has small molecules of oil which enter the strands effectively and provide nourishment from within.
You will need:
- 1/4th cup of coconut oil
How to:
- Heat up the coconut oil until it is warm enough to be applied.
- Apply the hot oil on the scalp and massage for at least 10-15 minutes.
- Apply the oil on the hair ends as well.
- Wrap your hair in a bun and leave the oil in your hair for at least 6-8 hours.
- Shampoo and condition your hair as usual.
- Use this remedy 2 times a week.
Henna Powder
Henna has natural dyeing compounds that not only help to cover the grey hair but also nourish the scalp. Egg contains proteins that make the hair strong and shiny.
You will need:
- ½ cup of henna powder
- 1 egg
- ½ cup of brewed coffee
- 2 tablespoons of amla powder
How to:
- Simply mix all the ingredients together to form a smooth paste.
- Cover the vessel with a lid and leave the mixture for 4 hours.
- After this, stir the mixture again and apply on the hair evenly.
- You may alter the amount of ingredients according to your hair length.
- Tie your hair and leave the mixture on for 4-5 hours.
- Shampoo and condition as usual.
- Use this remedy once a month.
Biotin Rich Food
Biotin is a very important protein needed for healthy hair. You must not ignore your diet and this could be the cause of grey hair as well. Consume foods rich in biotin such as oats and almonds. Apart from this, you can also have food rich in omega-3 fatty acids to prevent premature graying of hair. Examples of such foods are avocadoes, salmon, and tuna fish and chia seeds.
