DIY Scalp Facial for Healthy, Gorgeous Hair

People sometimes forget that under all that hair, there is skin; the skin on the scalp serves as the soil for the living portion of the hair follicle.
It is important to take care of our scalp in order to get the most beautiful hair.

Step 1 Treat
You’ll Need:

  • 4 tablespoons aloe vera gel
  • 1/2 teaspoon argan oil
  • 1 teaspoon castor oil
  • 3 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 2 drops rosemary essential oil (Optional)
  1. Scrape out the gel-like material from the inside of an aloe vera leaf using a spoon.
  2. To a small bowl, add 4 tablespoons of aloe vera gel, 1/2 teaspoon of argan oil, and 1 teaspoon of castor oil.
  3. Then add 3 drops of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of essential oil from the rosemary to the aloe vera.
  4. Use a fork to beat them together.
  5. You can use a food processor if you use fresh aloe vera from the leaves.
  6. Apply an aloe vera scalp mask as a hair treatment pre-shampoo.
  7. Massage your scalp with the treatment and keep it on for at least 10 minutes.
  8. You may also work this DIY hair serum into the length of your hair if your hair is feeling dry or looking frizzy.
  9. Then braid or twist it in a bun and allow its magic to work on the mask!

You’ll be left with smooth, safe hair and a clean, breathable scalp after first rinsing, then shampooing.

Step 2 Massage

  1. Starting from the center of your scalp, work the scalp treatment into it in slow, use circular motions, and gently move backward.
  2. Keep applying and releasing pressure until your whole scalp is covered.

A scalp massage is what stimulates hair growth.
Massaging the scalp for hair growth involves using your fingertips to put pressure on the scalp.
It is done mainly to improve the supply of blood to the hair follicles, to rejuvenate the roots, and to condition the scalp.
Hair follicles are created of hyperactive stem cells; hair growth is stimulated when given an oxygen boost.
They also strengthen the hair’s texture, making it smoother over time and deeper.
Note that it is a slow but highly efficient method to use scalp massages to encourage hair growth.

Step 3 Wash

  1. Before shampooing, make sure that you rinse your hair thoroughly with water.
  2. Shampoo lathers on wet hair smoother and spreads uniformly.
  3. If you wet your hair properly beforehand, you’ll also find that less shampoo is needed to wash your hair.
  4. Rinse your hair using lukewarm water.
  5. The hot water will help open the hair cuticles so that the shampoo can penetrate deeper and clean the hair from dirt and oil.
  6. The open cuticles would also be able to properly absorb the conditioner’s oil and moisturizing effects.
  7. Stop using shampoo directly on the scalp, and mix it with a little water instead.
  8. This will ensure that the shampoo is uniformly distributed across the scalp.

Secondly, you end up using even less shampoo than you would have applied.
When shampooing, it’s the scalp that needs the most care because the roots are always the oiliest.
You should lather the ends of your hair from the roots, all the while cleaning your hair gently with your fingers and palms.

Step 4 Hydration

  1. After shampooings, apply a conditioner.
  2. Try never to apply a conditioner to your scalp since it would make the roots more sticky than they are.
  3. It is your hair that needs the most hydration, so from the middle to the ends of your hair, it should be conditioned.
  4. The hair ends are the driest and need extra moisturizing, so add more conditioner at the ends and keep it on for longer.
  5. To wash away the conditioner, wash your hair under cool running water.

The cold water will help the cuticles close down and preserve moisture.
This will mean that no more moisture from the atmosphere is absorbed by your hair and becomes frizzy.
To dry it, do not rub your hair with a towel.
Alternatively, pat it softly to wipe your hair dry. Enable your hair to dry naturally after that.
