Baking Soda

Baking soda is alkalizing in nature. It helps to dissolve the dirt and also exfoliate the skin very well. It helps to deep clean the pores very effectively.

You will need:

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • A few drops of water

How to:

  1. Add a few drops of water to the baking soda.
  2. You should make a thick paste.
  3. Use this paste as a scrub over the areas where there are blackheads.
  4. Scrub for a good 5 minutes.
  5. Now wash using plain water.
  6. Do this remedy once a week to cleanse your pores and eliminate blackheads.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has very strong cleansing properties. It is very effective in removing blackheads. Lemon juice removes the excess sebum from the skin and removes all the dirt and oil which may be clogging the pores.

You will need:

  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 cotton ball

How to:

  1. Using the cotton ball, apply the lemon juice on the areas with blackheads.
  2. Let the lemon juice stay for at least 10minutes.

Caution: do not use lemon juice on your skin if you have sensitive skin. Lemon juice has astringent like qualities and it may cause a burning sensation. 

Gram Flour Scrub

Gram flour has a granular texture which is not too harsh on the skin. It is very gentle on the skin. It helps to remove stubborn blackheads but does not cause any dryness and can be used on sensitive skin as well.

You will need:

  • 1 tablespoon of gram flour
  • 1 teaspoon of curd
  • A pinch of turmeric

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together to form a smooth paste.
  2. Apply the paste over the affected areas.
  3. Let the paste dry up completely.
  4. Once the paste has dried up, wet the skin using a little bit of water.
  5. Now scrub the paste gently to exfoliate the skin. 
  6. Massage the skin for at least 5-6 minutes.
  7. Wash off the paste using cold water.
  8. Repeat this remedy two-three times a week.

Fuller’s Earth

Fuller’s earth is clay which can be used to purify the skin and remove any impurities. It helps to absorb excess sebum and make the skin look fresh. Since it leaves the skin clean, it also prevents the accumulation of dirt.

You will need:

  • 2 tablespoons of fuller’s earth
  • 3-4 tablespoons of rosewater

How to:

  1. Mix the fullers earth with the rose water to form a smooth paste.
  2. Apply the paste onto the skin and let it dry.
  3. Once the paste has dried up completely, wash it off using plain water.
  4. Follow up with a lightweight moisturizer.
  5. Do this remedy 3-4 times a week.

Oil Based Skin Cleanser

Blackheads are very common for people who wear makeup on regular basis. Makeup, if not removed effectively and completely, can result in clogged pores which show up as blackheads and whiteheads. You can make your own oil-based makeup remover which will melt off the residual makeup and help to keep the pores clean.

You will need:

  • 2 tablespoons of baby oil
  • 1tablespoon of aloe vera gel
  • Cotton 

How to:

  1. Simply add the oil to the aloe vera gel.
  2. Now massage this oil all over your face in circular motions.
  3. Do this for about 5 minutes.
  4. Use the cotton to wipe off the oil. You will find that all your makeup comes off easily.
  5. Now wash your face with a regular face wash.
  6. You can the oil to remove makeup as often as you wish.
