Vitamin C Night Serum For Radiant Skin

If stubborn pigmentation, dark spots and a tired-looking complexion have you scrolling for miracle products, make a quick detour to the kitchen. A fresh Vitamin C serum—whipped up in under five minutes—can outshine pricey bottles on the shelf. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a gold-standard antioxidant that fights free-radical damage, jump-starts collagen, lightens discoloration and restores youthful bounce. Pair it with soothing aloe vera, nourishing sweet-almond oil and an energising hint of orange essential oil and you’ve got an all-round glow activator.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Vitamin C powder or finely ground orange-peel powder
  • 1 Tbsp pure aloe vera gel (store-bought, preservative-based is fine for a longer shelf life)
  • 2 Tbsp warm distilled water
  • 1 tsp cold-pressed sweet-almond oil
  • 3–4 drops orange essential oil (optional, for fragrance and extra antioxidant punch)

Step-by-Step Method

  1. In a clean glass or ceramic bowl, whisk the warm distilled water into the aloe vera gel until the mixture looks silky and lump-free.

  2. Sprinkle the Vitamin C powder (or orange-peel powder) over the gel. Stir steadily until the powder is completely dispersed; no gritty particles should remain.

  3. Next in this add sweet-almond oil and orange essential oil, then whisk again. The almond oil lends a dose of vitamin E and healthy fats that cushion the skin, while the essential oil boosts antioxidant power and lends a zesty scent.

  4. Funnel the serum into a dark, airtight glass bottle—amber or cobalt blue works best—to shield the vitamin C from light and oxidation. Label with the date.

Storage & Shelf Life

Keep your bottle in the refrigerator or a cool, dark cabinet. With a clean spoon or dropper used each time, the serum stays potent for up to one month. Discard if the colour deepens markedly or the scent turns sour—both signs of oxidation.

How to Use for Max Results

  • Nightly routine: After cleansing, dispense 3–4 drops onto your palm, pat over face and neck, and allow it to absorb. Follow with your regular moisturiser or facial oil if needed.

  • Daytime option: You can wear it in the morning, but be sure to layer a broad-spectrum sunscreen once the serum has sunk in—vitamin C teams up with SPF to fight UV damage more effectively.

  • Frequency: Start every other night if you have sensitive skin, then work up to nightly use once your skin feels comfortable.
