Using oils to boost hair’s health was probably one of man’s greatest ideas.
Not only can they enhance the hair’s wellbeing by keeping it conditioned and nourished, but they even solve a plethora of hair problems.
However, trying to find the right oil for your hair can sometimes be difficult.
Although going to cold-pressed organic oils is generally your best bet, you can step up your hair care game by making your own oil blends at home.
- 2 tablespoons Brahmi powder (Gotu kola)
- 1 tablespoon amla powder
- 1 tablespoon hibiscus powder (optional)
- 100 ml sesame oil
- 30 ml of olive oil
- 20 ml castor oil
- 5 drops chamomile essential oil (optional)
- 5 drops lavender essential oil (optional)
We’re going to use a double boiler system to render this gasoline. Basically, you need a wide pan and a narrow bottom bowl or pot that sits on top of it.
- Place the Brahmi powder, the amla powder, the hibiscus powder, and the sesame oil in the top dish.
- You can use one of the stainless steel bowls or one of the glasses – it’s what you want or what’s available.
- Fill the bottom pan with 1/3 of the water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the flame as the water begins to boil.
- Place the herb and the oil bowl on top of it. Its recommended to infusing the oil for about two hours – from one hour and a half to two hours, and it’s a good time to bring all the goodness of the herbs into the oil. (When you’re halfway, just verify that you’ve got enough water in the pan to keep the bowl, so it doesn’t go dry).
- Stir the oil occasionally.
- Enable the oil to cool enough to handle and then strain into a glass bottle or jar.
- Now add almond oil, castor oil, and essential oils (if used) to the container.
- Stir well to mix all the oils and store them in a cool dark position away from direct sunlight.
- Don’t forget to give it a name! Your homemade Brahmi-amla hair oil is ready to be used.
How to use Brahmi-Amla Oil?
- You can either warm the oil by standing it in hot water for a few minutes or use it as it is while adding Brahmi-amla oil.
- If you’re suffering from hair loss, don’t heat the oil.
- For those of you who want to condition your hair should warm it up a little; this will improve your penetration.
- Apply to your scalp and rub softly with your finger pads.
- After you have finished massaging your scalp, run your fingertips along the length of your hair, paying particular attention to dry areas like the ends.
How long you’re supposed to leave would depend on how much time you have, but we’d say at least an hour, and if possible, leave it overnight.
- Only concentrate on the nourishing process and picture your hair getting healthier, stronger, and shinier.
- Clean it with a natural shampoo and let your hair dry naturally to make your hair look stunning.
- The combination mostly used to make Brahmi-amla oil – sesame/olive/castor oil – is best suited for dry hair and hair growth.
- Using a mixture of coconut / sweet almond/castor oil for those with delicate or oily hair.
- You may also use this mix for hair loss and thinning. Feel free to play with some other oils.
- Other beneficial oils for your skin and hair include jojoba, hemp, avocado, wheat germ, evening primrose, and flaxseed.
