Vaseline Vitamin E Anti-Aging Gel: Young & Glowing Skin

Dryness, dullness, rough texture, and fine dehydration lines can make skin look tired and older than it actually is. While no homemade remedy can permanently reverse skin aging, keeping the skin well moisturized and protecting its natural barrier can make it appear smoother, softer, plumper, and more radiant.

This homemade Vaseline Vitamin E Anti-Aging Gel combines petroleum jelly with Vitamin E, aloe vera, glycerin, almond oil, and a few other commonly available skincare ingredients. Vaseline works primarily as an occlusive, meaning it forms a protective layer over the skin and reduces moisture loss. Vitamin E and almond oil provide emollient benefits, while aloe vera and glycerin help improve hydration.

This gel is especially suitable as a nighttime moisturizing treatment for normal to dry skin. Because it is rich, people with very oily or acne-prone skin may prefer to use only a tiny amount or restrict it to dry areas.

Ingredients Required

  • 1 tablespoon Vaseline petroleum jelly – Helps lock moisture into the skin and supports the skin barrier.
  • 2 Vitamin E capsules or ½ teaspoon Vitamin E oil – Provides antioxidant and moisturizing benefits.
  • 1 tablespoon pure aloe vera gel – Hydrates and soothes dry or irritated-feeling skin.
  • ½ teaspoon vegetable glycerin – A humectant that attracts water and helps the skin feel plump and hydrated.
  • ½ teaspoon sweet almond oil – Softens the skin and adds nourishing fatty acids.
  • ½ teaspoon rose water – Gives the mixture a refreshing feel and provides additional light hydration.
  • ½ teaspoon honey – Acts as a natural humectant and helps keep the skin feeling soft.
  • 2–3 drops jojoba oil – Helps condition the skin without feeling excessively heavy.

Procedure

Start by thoroughly washing and drying a small glass bowl, spoon, and storage container. Clean utensils are particularly important because this recipe contains water-based ingredients such as aloe vera gel and rose water.

Add 1 tablespoon of Vaseline to the bowl. If the petroleum jelly is very firm, place the bowl in warm water for a minute or two so that the Vaseline becomes slightly softer. Do not overheat it.

Next, pierce two Vitamin E capsules with a clean pin and squeeze the oil into the Vaseline. Mix until the Vitamin E is evenly distributed.

Add ½ teaspoon sweet almond oil and 2–3 drops of jojoba oil. Stir slowly until the oils are completely blended with the petroleum jelly.

In a separate small bowl, combine the aloe vera gel, glycerin, honey, and rose water. Mix well.

Now add this aloe mixture to the Vaseline mixture a little at a time, whisking continuously. Since petroleum jelly is oil-based while aloe and rose water contain water, the mixture may not become perfectly uniform and can separate slightly. Continue mixing until you obtain the smoothest creamy gel-like consistency possible.

Transfer the freshly prepared gel into a clean, dry, airtight container.

Because homemade preparations containing water do not contain a reliable cosmetic preservative system, prepare only a small quantity. Keep it refrigerated and preferably use it within 3–5 days. Discard it immediately if you notice any change in smell, color, or texture.

Instructions for Use

Use the gel preferably during your night skincare routine.

First, cleanse your face with a gentle facial cleanser and pat the skin dry. If you normally use a hydrating toner or serum, apply that first.

Take only a pea-sized amount of the Vaseline Vitamin E gel. Rub it gently between clean fingertips and spread a very thin layer over the face. Concentrate particularly on areas that tend to become dry, such as the cheeks, around the mouth, forehead, and neck.

Avoid applying the mixture too close to the eyes.

You can use the gel 2–4 nights per week initially. If your skin tolerates it well and tends to be dry, you may use it more frequently.

Always perform a patch test before applying the mixture over your entire face, especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. Stop using it if you experience persistent redness, itching, burning, swelling, or breakouts.

During the daytime, use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, because sunscreen is far more important for preventing premature skin aging than any DIY treatment.
